Aleksandar Saša Bukvić

Aleksandar Saša Bukvić was born in Šabac in 1949. He grew up and was educated in Sarajevo, graduating from the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts. While still a student, in 1979 he began organising art and cultural programmes at Sarajevo’s Zvono café with Slobodan Dragaš and Jovica Maričić, giving young people opportunities to present their work.

In April 1982 he founded the art group Zvono with Sejo Čizmić, Biljana Gavranović, Sadko Hadžihasanović and Narcis Kantardžić. Kemal Hadžić later joined the group. Their work is regarded as pioneering conceptual art practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
