Safet Zec

Safet Zec was born in Rogatica in 1943. He completed the School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo in 1964, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1969 and completed postgraduate studies in 1972.

During the 1970s critics identified him as an exponent of poetic realism. He lived and worked in Belgrade until 1989 and then returned to Sarajevo. Because of the war, he left Sarajevo in 1992 and moved to Udine, Italy. He held his first museum exhibition in Italy in 1994. He lives and works in Venice, Sarajevo, Paris and Počitelj.
